Week 5 - more pictures

As I mentioned below, we were missing a couple of pictures from last week. Here's one of Mollie with Bonnie and one of her with Mara and Mara's +1. Mollie spent a good part of the afternoon listening to the baby in Mara's belly, which made all of us smile.

Mollie's first picnic

Last weekend a lotta Lauters came to meet Mollie and to attend the annual AIPAC policy conference. The weather was awesome, so we took Mollie on her first picnic. Somewhere there's a group shot with everyone, but here are some of my favorites from Great Uncle Sam's camera.

Mollie just got her first sunhat. I'm not sure why it's on backwards, but it definitely has plenty of room for growing.
Mollie with her great aunt Stephanie.
If this doesn't make you go "awww" there might be something wrong with you...

Mollie with her great Aunt Debbie. Mollie LOVED sucking on Debbie's pinky.

Week 5

Here's a picture of Mollie from last night after her visit with Andy, Claire and Auntie Margie. Doesn't she look happy and relaxed? We couldn't find the camera to document the visit, but we'll get a group shot today as we head to check out the kites and the cherry blossoms on the mall.
This week Mollie met Auntie Margie. It was love at first sight, despite Mollie's crying hysterically the entire way home from Dulles airport. She's lucky her Aunt still wanted to play with her after that. This week they've had a lot of time to get to know one another and Mollie loves having Margie around. We tried to convince Margie to move in and be Mollie's nanny, but so far, we cannot get her to commit. We won't stop trying though.
This is how Mollie felt about the Huskies losing in the tournament this week.
We also had a visit from Reuben, Daniel and Bonnie. Here's Daniel striking a pose. He was very helpful and kept giving Mollie pacifiers - he's going to be a great big bro. I think Reuben got a picture of Bonnie and Mollie that I will have post later.

Here's one of Mollie doing what she does best - sleeping.

And last but not least - a sleepy smile during her visit with Nana.

Photo shoot

Aunt Elana came over last week and took some photos of Mollie all dressed up in her party dress (lovingly provided by Auntie Megan). Here is one of my favorites

Mollie is 1 month old!

Mollie is one month old today. Louie and I cannot believe it's already been a month. We also cannot believe how much she's grown! Yesterday she went to the pediatrician for her one month check up. She weighs 11 lbs 2 oz and is 23 inches long.

This week she met some more members of the Lauter family, including Great Aunt Debbie and cousins Shoshi, Rachel, and Matt. How did Matt not end up in the photo?
She also met her great grandmother Naomi.
Last weekend our friends Sam, Sanam, and Margaret were kind enough to bring us dinner and great company. We had a lovely time having some grown up interaction and they had a great time meeting Mollie, until she turned into a screaming meanie at the end of their visit :(
And here's a picture of our baby girl taking a nap. I just thought it was cute.

Family resemblance

For fun, we had our parents dig up some photos of us and our siblings as babies and created a poll to see who everyone thinks Mollie most closely resembles. Please vote below. We will post the names that correspond to the photos on Sunday evening, so vote before then!

Are you familiar with "the best band...ever"?

For those of you who know Louie, you also know of his love of The Who. Our friend Deb even got this onesie before Mollie was born. Louie posed with it while The Who played at the Super Bowl, shortly before Mollie arrived.
And now they have daddy-daughter The Who bonding time. I'm sure with time she will come to appreciate their musical talents. For now, she seems to slightly prefer Sesame Street's In Harmony. Either way, she's certain to have an appreciation for great music if her dad has anything to say about it.

Don't mess with Mollie...

Week 3 - more visitors and a pirate smile

Today Mollie and I (Mara) had a play date with Kelly and Maggie. We walked through the neighborhood and then stopped at the park. Kelly and I think the girls will be great friends, especially given how great their names sound together and that they already have the same stroller toy and share a love of fashionable hats.

Mollie's been working on her smile, both when she's sleeping and when she's awake. It's hard to catch it when it happens, here's one, that kind of resembles a pirate.
This week Mollie had some more visitors. Her pop-pop came to keep her company while Louie and I napped and planned our trip to California.
Nana brought us breakfast one morning and snuggled with Mollie.
Mollie had her first mini-date with Quinn. However, Quinn became quite upset when he saw the number one lady in his life, his Momma, Jordan, snuggling with another baby. Mollie looks forward to their next date and promises not to drool on his momma next time.
Our friend and my co-worker Taylor came over and brought us a delicious pasta dish and gave Mollie some good snuggles. We're happy to report that Mollie passed Taylor's baby sniff test.

Nicknames

In the belly, Mollie had many nicknames: Tic Tac, McNugget, Kung Fu Panda, Tilly, Plum, Mathilda, Clementine, and Jakette.

In honor of "Plum", something Pop-pop, Nana, and Aunt Elana settled on in New Orleans, Mollie is sporting her new Plum hat.

Mollie's favorite things - week of March 7

Here are some of Miss Mollie's favorite things:

1. Hats from Great Aunt Sarah. Mollie is fortunate enough to have a family full of talented people, including her great aunt, who made this beautiful hat. There is a sweater to match, which is still a little big, but will be making its debut pretty soon. 2. Kisses from mommy. Ok - so she doesn't look like she loves it in the picture below, but she does. Mother knows best.
3. Animal friends. Our friends, Mariah, Casey and Anna Redbird, gave Mollie this crib soother. The animals in it are Mollie's first official friends. She loves to watch them bob up and down and listen to the music. She talks to them and today I swear she smiled at them. Ok, maybe she was smiling at gas bubbles...but she does love these guys.

4. Thumb sucking. I'm sure Louie and I will find this significantly less cute when we get her orthodondist bills, but for now, it's freaking adorable!

More videos

Louie and I are really excited about the Flip video recorder Louie received for Christmas. Here are a few videos of Mollie from her first weeks. Yeah, there's not so much a two week old can do, so the videos aren't exactly thrilling...

Week 1 & 2

We took her back to the pediatrician this week to follow up. She weighs 9 lbs 1 oz and is doing really well. Here are some photos from her first two weeks.
Mollie's first bath at home.

Heading home - looking a little uncomfortable. She's already outgrown these pj's!
Happy birthday Mollie!
