Maine!

We are just back from a fantastic vacation road trip to Maine.  We made a few stops along the way up to our final destination in Bar Harbor.

First stop, rose slushees with Auntie Margie!  We had a great time in Brooklyn visiting family and friends.

Meatball Shop with Rozzie's godfather, Sam.

We stayed at the Hotel Indigo, my new favorite happy place on the lower east side.  The girls put on their best NYC outfits for the pool at Mr. Purple.
The Carousel at DUMBO with our former babysitter, Katerina.  We really miss her!

 Picnic lunch

Waiting for the ferry to the statue of liberty with a tomato snack
 Happiness on the ferry.
 Lady Liberty

 Back to Mr. Purple!

On to our next stop...Connecticut.  Where we visited the Pez factory, completed a scavenger hunt, won some free pez and saw pez being made.

Lunch at Frank Pepe's pizza.  Delicious!

Back in the car!  The girls were champion road trippers.
Next stop...Boston!  We saw these jugglers performing in the street.  Rozzie wanted to be part of their act, they said no, but did let her take some photos with them.

Dinner with Auntie Sissy and Uncle Mike!

 Fishing off the dock.
 Boston children's museum

Next stop - Portland!  On the way from Boston to Portland we stopped at Bob's Clam Hut.  Highly recommend this little spot!  Delicious lobster rolls and fried clams.
Rozzie shoving fried clams into her mouth.
 Mollie preferred the soft serve

The girls "driving" while we wait for breakfast at Becky's diner in Portland
 Even super heroes get nurvis.
 L.L. Bean Flagship Store!
Next stop, Phippsburg, Maine and the Sebasco Harbor Resort.  This was my favorite place on the trip.  Yoga every morning, the resort was right on the water, there were tons of activities for kids - tie dye, candlepin bowling, an arcade.  Wine tasting for adults, and a lobster bake with line dancing for the whole family.  A true east coast experience.

I was teaching the girls the life lesson of the "crane game" in the arcade - you can't go for the prize you want, you have to go for the prize that you can get (on top and not heavy).  I present you the purple Popsicle of despair and the orange bear of disappointment.
Rozzie put this dress on for ice cream and announced "look at me mommy, I'm a princess."
Mollie tried out the adult yoga class.  She wasn't the biggest fan but she did a really excellent job.
We hiked!  2 miles, the girls were great sports.
Our destination was this beautiful beach.
 Hiking back
More fried clams.  "Bellies in my belly"  And yes, she's wearing her pajamas...
 Dancing at the lobster bake

 More ice cream

Boating on the Ruth.  An 80 year old boat built to tour the area around the hotel

 Seals!  (not the best photo)

Dinner in Bar Harbor at the Thirsty Whale.  This is Rozzie's "I'm the guppy" face.

Whale watching voyage.  We had the best time on this boat ride.  We saw 8 whales, tons of dolphins jumping, check out the video at the end of this post.

After whale watching we went to Thurston's Lobster Pound for lobster eating...
 and whoopie pies.

 Next up, Acadia National Park.

 Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.

Last breakfast at Becky's diner - with Minnie Mouse pancakes.
Back to NY to say hi to Margie and Andrew!
A quick visit with Poppy JJ

Rozzie Turns Two!

This week we celebrated Rozzie's second birthday!  Rozzie's amazing god father came with a purple play house, the girls are loving it!

He also brought some super sweet dress up clothes!

We had a birthday party at Gymboree.  A couple of Mollie's friends came, too.

After the party, we had a family dinner at Guapos.

Mollie made this little card "Rozzie you make my heart glitter."  Such a sweet little soul!

Rozzies first haircut

Rozzie had to have her bangs cut because they were getting in her face.

Step 1: terror.  She was really not happy with the situation, especially the black cape.

Step 2: free from the cape, still not happy.

Step 3: nailpolish.  Intriguing and distracting...

Step 4: painting of nails...joy!

Finished product: happy girl!

Key West 2015

Let's start the winter updates!  We're just back from our annual New Year trip to Key West.
Some highlights below:
Nana and Rozzie dancing at Pop-pop's Blue Heaven birthday party.

The birthday boy!

We went to the Butterfly Conservatory.  Lots of cute little birds this year.

Both girls loved swimming in Nana's pool.

Practicing see food with pop-pop

We "discovered" this awesome coffee shop, Cuban Coffee Queen.  If you're in Key West, get a cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast sammy.  Yum.
