Rosalyn 17 weeks and Family Visit

Nana brought the girls these furry chickens back from KW.  The perfect KW gift.  One is white and one is brown and one was supposed to be for Rosalyn, but Mollie has claimed them both for herself.

 Having all your stuff taken is just one way it is hard to be a lil sis.  Being manhandled by your Big is another.  Rosalyn is a pretty good sport about being poked and prodded...

 and dressed up.  Mollie was telling me over and over to take a video of Rosalyn "so your friends can remember what she looks like."

 Mollie started tennis lessons this summer because her usual ballet class wasn't offered and there just aren't that many options for 4 year olds who don't need full time camp in the summer.  Here she is looking like she's having fun.  The class has actually been a little rough and we're looking forward to returning to ballet in the fall.

 The big event last weekend was a visit from cousin Kassie all the way from South Africa!  Mollie loved having her little cousin around and showing her the ropes.

 Rosalyn liked having cousin Kassie around too.

 Rosalyn had her 4 month doctors appointment today.  She weighs 17 lbs 7 ounces and is over 27 inches long (the measurement seemed a little off).  But she's growing and healthy and doing great.  Plus starting to get some little curls!

 All these babies around caused Mollie to regress just alittlebit.

Fourth of July and Rosalyn 15 weeks

Welcome to summer!  Mollie has been having a really fun time with outdoor play this summer.  We've been practicing our selfies.

 Auntie Margie sent Mollie a bunch of candy and stickers when Mollie was feeling a little under the weather.  Mollie LOVED it, especially the candy necklace.

 We had a busy but nice Fourth of July weekend.  On the actual fourth, we went to a parade downtown and saw the floats.  A bit of a random assortment of performers, but we had a good time.

 But Mollie and Louie had no problems at all.

 Rosalyn slept through the parade but woke up in time for the Folk Life Festival.  This is an annual festival in DC and Louie has gone every year that I've known him.  It's usually very hot, but this year the weather was nice and the two countries featured were Kenya and China.  We had a great time watching the dragon cart in the China display and the dancers in the Kenya area.

 We watched the fireworks from the roof of my office.  Mollie wasn't so in to the waiting but she was REALLY into the fireworks.  She was exclaiming "wow!" "pretty!" "OOOOH!" the whole time.  It was very cute.

 We had dinner with Louie's cousin Eliza, I missed the photo of Rosalyn and Eliza!  I can't believe I did that!  A little Rosalyn update - she is doing great.  She adjusted really well to the daycare, they love her and she seems to love it there too.  She's a happy go lucky kind of girl - really amused by her sister.  She laughed during the fireworks, every time there was a boom.  She's smiling a lot more now, takes her bottle pretty easily.  She hasn't shown much interest in rolling over but loves reaching for and kicking at toys.  She loves her mobile in the crib and pretty much every toy we give her, especially Sophie the giraffe and a little ballerina mouse rattle she got as a gift in california.  She's putting EVERYTHING in her mouth.  And she can kind of sleep in her crib at the moment, which is nice!

 Mollie is four going on fourteen.  She was giving me this stare down because it was taking too long for her food to arrive at the table.  Shortly after this the waiter smiled at me and she said "he's smiling at you because he wants to marry you, but you can't marry him because you're married to daddy."  OY!

 We rounded out our weekend at Chuck E. Cheese for Rina's 5th birthday.  The kids had a good time and the adults actually had a lot of fun playing the video games and especially skee ball.

Rosalyn 14 weeks

This week we said goodbye to our fantastic temporary nanny, Sami.  Rosalyn loved her and she was so wonderful to our family for my first two weeks back at work.  Now Rosalyn heads to the blueberry room at the same daycare as big sis, at least for a little while until Mollie starts pre-K at our local elementary school.

 We had a busy weekend, including a trip to Old Town Alexandria, a birthday party for Mollie's friend Adelei, and the girls' first Mystics game.

 The Mystics lost but we had a great time hanging out in our super fancy box seats at the Verizon center.

Visiting Hills Gymnastics Rosalyn 13 Weeks (3 months!)

Rosalyn is three months old!  We had her doctor's appointment today.  She weighs 15 lbs 10 oz and is 26 and 5/8 inches long (100% for length, 95% for height, 100% for head circumference).  The doctor was pleased with her development.  In other news, I went back to work this week.  Rosalyn has been home with an amazing nanny, Sami, who we love.  

Last weekend, we went out to my old second home, Hills Gymnastics.  The girls had a great time meeting all my buddies from the gym.  From left, Kelli Hill, Tandy Knight, Dominique Dawes, Rosalyn and me.  Mollie wouldn't be in the picture - too busy swinging bars.

 Kacey (Coyne) Hall, me and Ros.  We all tried to do some of our old tricks, some more successfully than other.  I can still front flip into a foam pit and sort of jump on a balance beam but that's about it.  Kacey and Dom tried fly aways and kips, a bit more successfully (well, not at the kips, but the fly aways went pretty well).  

 The newest set of Lil' Angels - Dominique's baby girl who was born Feb. 13th.

 Auntie Margie also came to visit us last week.  It was so fun having her back in DC and although I totally failed at getting photos, we had a lot of fun together.  Mollie and Margie planted some jasmine in our garden.

California Vacation and Rosalyn Weeks 11-12

Last week was CAPG's annual healthcare conference in Los Angeles.  Mollie had her graduation from daycare so my mom was generous enough to volunteer herself to come as the Nana-Nanny on my work trip.  Rosalyn was an angel on the airplane.  Three of the people sitting around us commented on how good she was on the cross country flight.

We arrived and had a delicious lunch at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant.  The conference was at LA Live and the Stanley Cup playoff game was also there - plenty of activity.  Mom took Rosalyn to MoCA and on lots of long walks.

I think they really bonded!

Rosalyn also got to meet her Auntie Mimi.  They were fast friends!

After the conference we packed up and flew to San Francisco to see the rest of the Lauter clan.

Rosalyn slept the whole way there.

 Once we arrived in SF, there were lots and lots of grandparent activities.  Tea at LoveJoys.  Took Mollie a little to warm up to the idea but once she got into the swing of things she had a great time.

 Mollie cooking dinner.  They made stir fry,it was very yummy!  Mollie has this neat plastic knife that cuts vegetables but not fingers.  She's a real pro chef now.

 Rosalyn got to meet Auntie Megan for the first time.  We had grilled cheese and talked all things baby (Meg's due in September).

 Both of the girls attended their first home game to watch the Giants play the Nationals.  The Giants won.  Mollie had a great time and Rosalyn and I did a lot of walking around the stadium and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
