Week 13 - 3 month doctor's appointment, playdates & so long to uncle Sam

Mollie had her three month doctor's appointment this week. She weighs 15 lbs 6 oz and is 25.5 inches long. We told the doctor all about her impressive skills - rolling from belly to back, standing up with some assistance and big smiles and giggles. We also talked to him about some of her less impressive skills - refusing to take a bottle and crying when she has to go to bed in her crib. He gave us some tips, so hopefully we will be moving these to the nice column very soon. After her doctor's appointment, I brought her to the White House.
As you can see, she found it verrrrry exciting.
We also had some really fun playdates this week. We saw Jordan and Quinn to celebrate Jordan's birthday and we had lunch with Laura, from my work. I totally failed at taking pictures of these events. Probably because Mollie slept through both of them and I obviously have plenty of pictures of her sleeping. But I thought they deserved the shout out anyway. Next time I will be sure to document the event.

Louie thought it would be funny to "sword" fight with her using his collar stays. Note that she is sleeping. The battle is obviously intense.
Finally, this week we bid farewell to our dear friend Sam who is leaving us for the summer to go to Wisconsin to return to school. We are really really really going to miss him.

Saturday at the Zoo

We took Mollie to the National Zoo for the first time today. She loved it, especially the bird house.

Week 12 - Mama's birthday, adventures in head control, caught in the rain

This week was my birthday so Louie and I went to dinner at the renovated Sushi Taro and then met with some friends and my sibs for a cocktail. Mollie stayed home with Nana and Pop-pop and was fast asleep when we got back. Here are the ladies celebrating my 29th!Mollie has come a long way in being able to support her head so we decided it was time to break out the bumper jumper. Louie has been looking forward to this one since we saw a video of Silas jumping around in his. I'd link to the video on his blog, but I don't know how to do that. You should check it out though, it's hilarious. Anyway, the doorway jumper was a big hit in our house too. Mollie loves it. She moves so fast it is hard to get a photo, so it's very blurry.

We also decided to try the baby bjorn facing out. Although she loves being in the Bjorn facing in, she was a little unsure about this new view.

And finally, she's getting better at sitting in the bumbo seat. She loves to sit up and when she lies on her back she will lift her head up and grunt until someone helps her up. If we don't help her up quickly enough, she will cry and shout until we get the message. It's charming.

We also went for an outing with Auntie Sissy before her big trip to Berlin for her art show. We checked out the Rose Park farmer's market, but it started pouring, so our outing was cut short. Mollie slept through the whole thing.

Week 11 - First babysitting, new Safeway, Race for Hope

This week Louie and I had our first night out together since Mollie was born. We went to the Washington State Society annual Potlatch. Mollie stayed with Nana and Pop pop, who kindly sent us many photo updates so that we wouldn't be as nervous. Here are some of the best ones plus evidence that Mollie was having a great time.
Her Pop pop was pretty proud that he got her to sleep.
Louie also began Mollie's training in being a San Francisco Giants fan. Apparently, she's good luck, because the Giants won!

At long last our neighborhood Safeway reopened. For those of you in the DC area, we highly recommend checking it out. They've got everything and it's really clean and new and well-stocked. Mollie and I have been frequent visitors since the grand opening last Thursday.Last weekend we attended the Race for Hope to support our dear family friend, Arnie and his family. Jake and Elana ran, Mollie, Louie and I sat and ate. Here are some photos from race day.
